Bio

Nicole has been practicing mediation for nearly 15 years; she delivers training in conflict resolution and mediation. Nicole holds a Chartered Mediator designation with ADRIC and is often mentoring new mediators in the field.

Her formal and informal education includes Conflict Resolution, Rhetoric and Communication, Restorative Justice, Mediation Certification, Family Mediation Certification, High Conflict, Addiction, Trauma, and Child Development. Nicole has practiced mediation in victim/offender cases, private prosecutions, neighbour disputes, workplace conflicts, family conflicts (compassionate care and estate matters, adult parent/child, parent-teen, sibling), and co-parenting.

Her passion for family work is fueled by her past work with children and youth – teaching piano, teaching human rights education through play, and coordinating programing for at-risk youth. In these experiences, she valued shared learning, supporting people through challenges, and building relationships.

Nicole has lived experience of being a child of divorce and having a parent who struggled with mental illness. Nicole was also adopted at birth and met her biological parents in adulthood – using her skills in navigating differences and complicated dynamics, balancing boundaries and expectations. This along with other life experiences, informs her work with families.

Interests

I love when I can spend time being creative. Often this includes gardening, landscaping, or even organizing spaces – highlighting beauty, appreciating complexity, creating calm.

This outlook and strength extend into my mediation work in conflicts, I enjoy creative problem solving and organizing conflicts – categorizing and making sense of the issues, and improving relationships.
